US Open Nadal overcomes freak self-inflicted injury

On Thursday, he reached the third round of the US Open by hitting himself in the head with his racket.

The Spaniard won in four sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 against the Italian Fabio Fognini.

But only after he intentionally hurt himself while up 3-0 in the deciding set.

The 36-year-old player left his racket on the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium and ran to the sidelines, where he collapsed and laid on his back, bleeding from the nose.
