US Open Nadal overcomes freak self-inflicted injury

On Thursday, he reached the third round of the US Open by hitting himself in the head with his racket.
The Spaniard won in four sets, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-1 against the Italian Fabio Fognini.
But only after he intentionally hurt himself while up 3-0 in the deciding set.
The 36-year-old player left his racket on the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium and ran to the sidelines, where he collapsed and laid on his back, bleeding from the nose.
The reigning champion of both the Australian and French Opens needed a medical break to treat to the wound.
The trainer was called onto the court for the third time in the game.
According to Nadal, "I felt a little bit disoriented and it was a little bit unpleasant."
He said that a golf club had previously injured him in a similar manner.
